By 2019, nearly one billion Nokia smartphones will no longer be able to use WhatsApp
Since January 1, 2019, WhatsApp no longer works on 28 old Nokia models. One billion devices are potentially affected (see list below). IM managers prefer to devote their human and technological resources to the most used versions of the platform.
"It was a difficult decision for us," explained the leaders of the application. "But the good one is to give users a better way to stay in touch with their friends, family, and loved ones by using WhatsApp . This policy is not unique. Other versions discarded in the future
For example, in 2018, smartphones running BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10 and Windows 8.0 and Nokia S60 had already been ruled out by WhatsApp managers. Next year, devices running Android 2.3.7 and earlier, iOS 7 and iPhone 4 or earlier will be affected.
Still, if the choice of executives WhatsApp meets a business management logic, smartphone users who lose each year the ability to use the messaging are still very numerous. And especially in developing countries.
