The different types of drilling equipment

The choice of material depends on the needs and the methods you plan to apply when drilling . You can use a hand drill or a drill auger.

The manual drill

It allows you to work in difficult to access terrain. Lightweight, the manual drill can be operated by one person. It weighs between 10 and 50 kg. It is most often used in gardening (setting up poles, trees, etc.), construction (when making foundations, etc.) and drilling (to dig a well, quarries, etc.).

The manual drill is equipped with different drills (in reinforced steel or diamond) depending on the work to be done.

The drill augerThe auger consists of extensions and a handle. It is turned into the ground and gradually fills with soil, which will have to be emptied as and when. It is possible to attach different augers to the end of the extensions to adapt to all types of soil:

- A large conical auger for working on clayey, silty and sandy soils.

- A large clay auger for a sticky clay soil.

- A large Riverside auger for sandy, gravel and silty soils.

- A small Riverside auger for sandy, gravel and silty soils. It allows drilling inside a pre-casing below the level of the water table.

- A water auger for gravel and sandy soils.

The auger is quite easy to handle. It is placed in the ground and performs the drilling by rotational movements. The addition of extension is necessary when the handle touches the ground.
